Project: Battle Creek Math and Science Center
Design Firm: Tower Pinkster
Lighting Designer: Lentz Becraft
Description: This renovation of the former Kellogg Cereal City Museum is now home to high school STEM education programs for exceptionally talented students. A new distribution center is also located on the site for the design, manufacture and distribution of science curriculum materials. Tower Pinksters design used biological science for inspiration. Scientific installations including sustainability monitors tied to building systems, suspended molecular models, interactive technology exhibits, and the students solar car project enhance the interior space.
The lighting design criteria for this project was to be innovative with an emphasis on new technology. The use of LED fixtures from Delray lighting helped to achieve this. The major statement was deployed in the main stairwell. The use of Prospetto Lighting large glass elements coupled with the RGB color changing Visa vertical elements created the drama desired.
